Low Carb Diet
First up… the low carb diet. As its name suggests, a low carb diet means you limit the amount of carbs you eat. The amount of carbs you take in will range between about 50-150grams/ day depending on your health goals and how much you exercise. We give specific examples in the video.

Keto Diet
Is keto low carb?. You see… the low carb diets we’ve mentioned so far recommend increasing protein and fat. But… on these diets, your body continues to use carbs as its main source of energy. On Keto, your carb intake is generally kept below 50 grams per day, and your fat intake is around 75% of what you eat. Which means… your metabolism shifts from burning carbs for fuel to burning fat for fuel. This state is called ketosis.

With any low carb diet, and with keto, you’ll want to be sure you’re monitoring a few important things. For one… be sure that you’re getting enough micronutrients. Also, monitor your digestion, and watch for any changes in your health. And… do make sure to check in with your personal care provider before starting a new diet. He or she may be able to help you identify the best options for you based on your health goals and health history.

    I am obese at 383 lbs, sedentary only getting in an average of 4000 steps a day each week as my only physical activity for the day, and I've also been insulin resistant not diabetic for 10+ years now. I want to lose fat and reverse my insulin resistance by eating 50g of total carbs excluding vegetable carbs so maybe up to 70g of total carbs everyday. Is this keto or low carb? Is this a good option for someone like me to reverse insulin resistance and lose weight?

    ..Ernie might be insulin resistant, in such case he will have a hard time in reaching ketosis.. will have to follow the same diet for some time to correct that first, then down the line weight loss gradually happens… also he will need to check on restoring vitamin B1 levels to help in the process…

    Keto just doesn't work for me….yes it's fantastic for weight loss but it makes me feel so bad. Even when I take electrolyte supplements and eat enough fat I'm left with awful headaches and fatigue. I have to urinate literally every hour and am extremely thirsty. If I get up from a lying position my head will start spinning like I'm about to pass out. I have a slow heart rate so my guess is the loss of water and electrolytes is just too much for my body.

    Low carb works great for me though with intermittent fasting 16:8 method. I aim for about 70-100 grams of carbs a day and with heavy workouts and fasting I still go into light ketosis overnight and morning till my first meal.

    best video i‘ve seen on low carb. i‘ve been doing the balanced split without knowing there was a word for it. 35% protein, 35 fat, 30 carbs. works great for me. thats 100g of carbs for me which lets me eat my favourite carbs: potoatoes.
    your website was the first one where i found this. thanks:) also you reasured my to eat carbs before exercise. i was getting to strict on this (always doing fasted weight training which wasnt giving me results)

    now i‘m happy where i am. it’s still low carb. i feel great. but i also have energy, my goal weight and i‘m building muscle:)

    Ive only been doing keto for a week and a half. I’ll be celebrating my birthday over the weekend and know I will be cheating those days…. it makes me discouraged because I think low carb would be beneficial instead of a strict keto diet. Ive been eating less than 50g of carbs a day but just want pizza LOLL… I guess I just don’t want to obsess over counting calories. Not sure if I have lost any weight either but I’m just upset that my new progress will mean nothing once I cheat on my birthday

    Low carb has helped me lose 20+ lbs twice in the past 3 years. I have PCOS and insulin resistance so reducing my carb intake to 50g or less/day and exercising 30 mins to 1 hour a day for 5 days a week helped me get to my goal in about 10 weeks!
