Keto Egg Roll in a Bowl Recipe (AKA Crack Slaw)

Egg rolls are delicious. They’re crispy, packed full of flavor, and easy to eat, but they are far from being keto-friendly. At first, I thought it would be impossible to emulate an egg roll on keto.

However, when I took the first bite of this egg roll in a bowl (AKA crack slaw), I forgot all about the wrapper. Now, whenever the craving hits, I know I can whip up a keto egg roll in a bowl in half the time it takes to get takeout.

What is a Keto Egg Roll in a Bowl Crack Slaw?
If you haven’t heard of crack slaw or egg roll in a bowl before, it is simply a type of stir fry that features ground pork (or beef) and cabbage.

The cabbage will be chopped up like you are preparing it for low-carb coleslaw. However, instead of dressing it, you’ll stir-fry the slaw with meat, herbs, spices, and sauces for a delicious keto-friendly, Chinese-inspired meal.

I may have just become your newest stalker. Oops, I mean fan. 😁 We had this one for dinner last night and it was fantastic also. In fact, I liked it better than the cheesesteak one. The flavors of the sauce were outstanding. I think I’d go with fresh ginger instead of the ground ginger next time but holy cow, I could’ve eaten a whole skillet myself.

I made this last night adding in sambal into the sauce. OMG! It IS 'Crack Slaw'!! That sauce is da bomb! I am going to use it as a marinade for beef jerky and see how it turns out.

I would change the instructions slightly though: Add the remaining avocado oil at the step where the sesame oil was added, then vice versa, add the sesame oil at the very end.

Avocado oil is neutral tasting and handles high heat well. Sesame oil is very flavorful, but delicate and should be used more for its flavor than for stir-frying.

Why is it called an egg roll when it has no eggs? Did I miss something? It’s more like a pork stir fry!
